MANUAL
A detachable winding handle is used to extend or retract the awning, via a gearbox for a smooth and easy operation. All our awnings are fitted with servo assistance making it as easy to wind the awning in as out.

AUTOMATIC
Once you have electric operation there are three main automatic options:

1) Wind Sensor
This will automatically retract the awning should it become too windy. This is really useful if you live in an area prone to windy conditions or if you have a large awning.

2) Sun and Wind sensor (shown above)
This sensor has the added feature of automatically extending the awning in sunny conditions. The sun sensor has a time delay to ensure the awning does not retract every time a cloud passes the sun. However, the wind sensor operates as soon as the wind speed exceeds the safe operating limits of the awning.

3) Rain Sensor
This sensor will automatically retract the awning should it start to rain.

It is possible to have a sun, wind and rain sensor fitted to your Sampson awning.

ELECTRIC
On electric operation a 240v motor is fitted in the barrel around which the fabric is stored. Sampson only use motors from Somfy the world's largest manufacturer of motors for all types of blinds.

We use radio controlled switches or handsets which have an operating range of 200m in open space so you can simply adjust your awning.
